Term 4 Week 4 2023
From Your Principal
Dear Families,
I would like to extend my thanks to the P&F Art Show Committee along with the staff and volunteers, who made last Friday’s Holy Name Art Show a wonderful success. The MEAC was transformed into a ‘pop up art gallery’, showcasing your children’s artwork. We should all be very proud of their efforts.
Grandparent’s Day
This Friday, we welcome the grandparents of our community to join us at school for the morning. The overview of the day is:
8:45 am Liturgy in the MEAC
9:15 am Grandparents are invited to visit the classrooms.
10:00 am Morning tea in the MEAC
I look forward to seeing many families and grandparents on Friday.
World Teacher’s Day
The staff at Holy Name are committed, passionate and truly engage every child in their education journey. I would like to thank every teacher for going above and beyond for the children of Holy Name. On Friday, we celebrate World Teacher’s Day. You may like to also acknowledge this day for the teachers of your child/ren.
Resilience
Next week is the halfway point of Term 4. This can be a point in time where children may start to become tired. It is often a time where children require more support to regulate their behaviour and emotions. The unusual heat we are experiencing, may also be a contributing factor. This is an important time for parents to maintain predictable routines in homes around homework, bedtime and eating. Good routines, healthy diets and time spent with our families, really does support our children to have the best day of learning at school. Likewise at school, where routines and expectations will continue to remain supportive and consistent. Don’t forget to send your child with a hat and water bottle- particularly on these hot days!
I look forward to seeing many families at the grandparent’s morning on Friday. You are all very welcome.
Take care,
Bridget Rillie

Year 3 News
Mathematics – By Jax, Meyka and Cc
This term, Year 3 have been learning about division, multiplication and measurement. Over the past few weeks, we have been working on our multiplication and division facts for 2’s, 4’s, 5’s and 10’s. We have also been learning all about measurement including length, mass and capacity.
Writing – By Beau, Bonnie, Benson, and Loxley
In writing this term, we have been learning to write persuasive texts. We had to persuade Miss Hose to buy a class pet. A persuasive text includes an opening statement, series of arguments, and a concluding statement. To be successful, we also needed to include a rhetorical question, emotive language and use CUPS editing.
Science – By Kuai, Lukah and Anto
In Science, we have been learning about living things. To help us remember if something is a living thing, we use the acronym MRS GREN. We have created a living thing flip book on a living thing of our choice. It's amazing to discover how everything around us is alive, and my flip book helps me remember it all!
Art Show – By Lilly, Dorian and Jensen
Last Friday we had our annual Art Show. There was so many wonderful pieces of art that we did with Mrs Mac.
Congratulations to the following people in Year 3 on their achievements at the Art Show:
1st – Lilly
2nd – Dorian
3rd – Beau
Grand Champion – Benson
Religion – By Hailie, Lawrence and Speranza
We have been learning all about Holy Name in the past, and Catherine McAuley and why she is important to our school. We did a project about Catherine McAuley, and she was super important for our school. She was like a superhero! She started the Sisters of Mercy and helped people in need. Our school is all about kindness and helping others, just like she did. She's like our school's role model, and she makes us want to be kind and learn. Catherine McAuley is awesome!
