From the Principal - Lisa Cavanagh
Dear Holy Name Families,
What an eventful term we have had! The past few weeks have been filled with exciting events in our school calendar. A huge thank you to Mrs Jenna Taylor for all her organisation of our athletics carnival days. Whilst Wednesday was very cold, we had perfect weather for the main carnival day last Thursday. Thank you for Mr Corey Watts for being such an expert starter on the day. Congratulations to all of our students for the outstanding sportsmanship on display at the carnival, with a special shout-out to our Year 6 leaders, who were incredible role models for our younger students in their participation, encouragement of others and hard work. Well done leaders!
We have a number of students who have been selected to attend the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival on the 12th of July. Mrs Taylor has sent home the information with all eligible students.
Catholic Education Week
CEW is held in Week 3 of Term 3 every year. This year, Holy Name School will begin our week of celebrations with a Mass with the Holy Name Parish Community on Sunday 21 July at 8:30AM. All members of the Holy Name School Community are invited to attend and bring along a plate of morning tea to share after Mass. The school choir will be leading the singing at this Mass, accompanied by Mr Dore.
We have a great number of events and learning opportunities planned for next Term. A massive thank you to all the staff at Holy Name for always going the extra mile for our school community. Your hard work and dedication are appreciated.
If you are travelling over the holiday break, drive safely. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the holidays.
God Bless
Lisa
An Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Another term draws to a close.
The energy of classrooms; the Prayer Celebrations – ANZAC Day, Mother’s Day, National Sorry Day, Togetherness Tuesday; the incursions with visiting authors and Under 8s Day; the excursion to the Empire Theatre for Sing Out; and the talent showcased on the sporting field and in The Arts ….so much has been achieved this term.
Although the anticipation of the impending holidays is cause for great excitement at Holy Name, let us look back with gratitude on a successful term of learning at Holy Name.
Prayer
Loving Father,
As we come to the end of another term, we turn to you in confidence and place any difficult relationships into the healing hands of Jesus, your Son.
Enable us to leave behind any pain of the past and any regrets or bitterness, entrusting the past to your mercy, the present to your love, and the future to your providence.
Help us appreciate more the need to keep a good balance in our lives.
May the holiday be for us a time of rest and recreation to help restore us and re-create us in your image and likeness, as we enjoy more of the love and presence of our families, on whom we ask your blessing.
Amen.
Blessings

Prep Blue - Tennille Kauter
Hard to believe our Preps are almost halfway through their first year of school! This term has been filled with exciting learning experiences and activities for our students.
In English, our students have been working hard, learning to read through our new reading approach, Decodable Readers Australia. They’ve put a lot of effort into blending sounds to read words and texts. Additionally, they have spent time learning how to write sentences. It’s been lovely to see their improvement in both reading and writing.
In Maths, we’ve introduced addition and subtraction. The students have enjoyed the fun, hands-on lessons and have shown great enthusiasm for learning these new concepts.
Our Preps have also enjoyed their weekly dance lessons and are eagerly looking forward to the athletics carnival next week. It’s wonderful to see their excitement and participation in all these activities.
We’ve had a blast in Prep so far and can’t wait to see what they achieve next term. Thank you again for all your support with homework and for being a part of your child’s educational journey.
Happy Holidays!
Mrs Kauter and Mrs Thomas

Term 2 In Prep/1 Gold
As we approach the end of Term 2, it’s time to reflect on the wonderful learning experiences and memorable moments we’ve shared together. We have been busy exploring various subjects, growing as individuals, and celebrating our faith. Here are some highlights from this term:
Academic Growth: This term we have worked hard in class and have been striving to become better readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists.
Exploring Religion: We have delved into stories of the Bible and learned valuable lessons about faith, compassion, and love. We studied Church rituals and celebrations and participated in meditative prayer experiences. Father Darryl came to visit us and was keen to know all about our learning this term.
Mother’s Day Liturgy: Following a scrumptious breakfast, we led a heartwarming Mother’s Day liturgy, expressing gratitude for the love and care our mothers provide. It was a beautiful tribute to the incredible women in our lives. We also enjoyed spending time with them engaging in some pampering and fun activities before giving them a beautiful gift we had worked hard at creating.
Under 8s Day: The highlight of our term was undoubtedly Under 8s Day! We engaged in playful learning activities, fostering creativity, teamwork, and joy. It was a day filled with laughter and discovery.
Fire Education Program: The Fire Education Program was delivered by local officers from the Queensland Fire Service. We learned essential fire safety skills, empowering us to protect ourselves and others in the event of a fire. We excitedly practiced our skills as budding fire fighters and learnt to spray a fire hose.
Dance and Groove Fridays: Every Friday, our school came alive with music and movement. We learned fun dance routines that fostered physical fitness and creativity. We look forward to showing off our moves at the Showcase on Friday.
Athletics and Ball Games Carnival: We participated in our events throughout the day with enthusiasm and great sportsmanship. Despite the cold, we enjoyed running races, relays, modified field activities and tunnel ball! A great day was had by all!
Thank you, parents and guardians, for your unwavering support this term. Together, we’ve created a nurturing environment where our students thrive academically, spiritually, and socially.
We continue to celebrate the achievements our Prep/1 Gold family and we look forward to next term!
